Food and Wine Pairings We’re Thankful For

It’s that time of year again – Thanksgiving! An opportunity for spending time with loved ones while making memories, perhaps watching a little football (we’re a little biased since our family co-founded the Oakland Raiders), and cooking incredible, delectable dishes that pair perfectly with your favorite Scarlett wines. With that, we’re excited to share our personal favorites with you and hope these provide a bit of inspiration for your Thanksgiving holiday!

Scarlett Sauvignon Blanc
Scarlett-Wines-Sauvignon-BlancAs much as we love turkey and stuffing, the appetizers and side dishes are equally as important in our book! Starting off our feast with cheese and charcuterie is a Scarlett staple, and our 2017 Sauvignon Blanc pairs beautifully with a variety of cheeses.

We especially love this wine with goat cheese, cheddar, gouda, Havarti, Monterey jack, muenster, and other alpine-style cheeses.

We also love a fun, green peppercorn chevre for a real kick. Pair this with your favorite savory cracker or crostini and you’ve got a tasty appetizer!

Additionally, our Sauvignon Blanc can be an ideal pairing with your favorite vegetable sides, such as Brussels sprouts or green beans. With the perfect amount of acidity and a hint of creaminess, this varietal accents the veggies and their seasonings beautifully.

Scarlett Rosé

Scarlett-Wines-RoseWhen you think about Thanksgiving, you might not consider including Rosé but this wine is incredibly versatile when it comes to pairings. The acidity in our 2018 Rosé pairs exceptionally well with the various cheese and crostini pairings mentioned above and, believe it or not, can also pair beautifully with virtually all parts of a classic Thanksgiving spread.

The rather unsung hero of Thanksgiving food and wine pairings, the bright hint of minerality in our Scarlett Rosé cuts through dishes such as creamy macaroni and cheese, and can also complement cranberry sauces’ sweet tartness.

Our light-bodied Rosé with notes of blood orange and raspberry intermingle with flavors of wild peach and hints of lavender making it easy to drink. Dare to try this wine with turkey, too!

Scarlett Zinfandel

By far one of the most renown wines to enjoy on Thanksgiving, our 2017 Scarlett Zinfandel is a wonderful go-to for your holiday feast. Just soft enough and unobtrusive in terms of tannin, this wine won’t offend anyone’s palate. Our Zinfandel boasts exuberant red fruit with a hint of spice. With a slightly peppery quality, it’s delicious with anything roasted. If you’re smoke-roasting or barbecuing your turkey, it’s the ideal pairing wine because its lower tannin helps moisten even the driest turkey.

With a subtly spicy undertone, Zinfandel complements spices that are often found at the Thanksgiving table, including cinnamon and nutmeg. This wine also goes with just about every side dish imaginable, including butternut squash and even stuffing. When you take a bite of stuffing, you might recall it’s typically the herbs that stand out on the palate. Our Zinfandel brings out all of those delicious flavors of parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme for a flavorful bite every time!
